Originally the Renault starter had a 9 tooth 25mm pinion. These starters have an 11 tooth 29mm pinion, offset slightly. The net effect is an even faster cranking speed, on top of that provided by the high torque starter motor.

(Please note Renault also used starter motors having 10 and 11 tooth pinions. These pinions were suitably offset so that the correct meshing was maintained. Both the 10 and 11 tooth versions are interchangeable with the one that we offer here)
